After landing in Botswana, we catch a bush flight to Khwai Private Reserve, load into Landcruisers and dive right into our first game drive through the floodplains to Little Sable, our dreamy hideaway in the wilderness.

We load up in Landcruisers to venture into the Reserve to track leopard, lion, cheetah and wild dog among the hundred-strong herds of buffalo and elephants. We picnic in the plains and make our way home for sunset cocktails around the fire and candle-lit dinner under the stars.

After a restful morning, we pay a visit to the village, where we learn about daily life, the culture, challenges and community-driven initiatives at work. Then, we set-off in dugout canoes to glide through the water to meet wildlife the way locals do and an unforgettable sundowner.

Today, we catch a helicopter to Hyena Pan and a subterranean elephant hideout for a once-in-a-lifetime experience with our ancient ancestors and surprise you’ll never forget.

Sleep in, spend the day by the pool and get dressed up for our final game drive to sundowners and dinner set in the floodplains under the stars.

We brunch in the Bush and catch a flight to Cape Town. After settling into our gorgeous new house by the sea, we head to a happening restaurant and a famed gin bar for a taste of the culinary and culture scene in the city.

We sleep in and head to the famed Oranjezicht farmers market for breakfast, then a guided tour through downtown with a focus on art, history and the racial justice movement in South Africa. We head home to cook together and stargaze by the pool.

For go-getters join a hike up Lions Head before a heading out to Cape Point for a day of foraging with Veld and Sea. We learn about the edible seaweeds, flowers and mussels in the tidepools and head to their workshop to cook a beautiful outdoor lunch together.

We head to Boulders Beach for a picnic on the sand with penguins and leave the day open for exploring or relaxing before a final dinner and sundowner at our house in Cape Town.

For those heading home, we hug — and for those joining us to the wine country, we drive to Franschhoek, the Dutch-colonial, ‘Sonoma County’ of South Africa’s winelands. After reeling your jaw from the floor at first sight of the landscape and our new cottage, we welcome a sommelier and chef to bbq and prep our palettes.

After breakfast, we board a fleet of tuk-tuk’s like a scene from a Wes Anderson film and embark on a wine tour that is as educational as it is a blast.

We head to Stellenbosch, the ‘Napa’ of South Africa’s wine country for a hike and a farm-to-fork / vineyard tour in this bustling university town with some of the finest restaurants, wineries in the world.

We head to the farm-to-fork eden of Babylonstoren. We tour the orchards, gardens and farm shops before lunch at Babel, one of the most celebrated restaurants in the world. We reflect on the highlights of our journey before heading to the airport for our final departure.

Our safari with Little Sable and Natural Selection drives tourism spending and conservancy fees into the Khwai Development Trust and local communities surrounding the Khwai Conservancy. The reserve protects a myriad of wildlife, including vulnerable species like wild dogs, serval cats, honey badgers and the elusive pangolin.

We tag along with Waves for Change for a day, who use surfing as a way to provide community, mentorship and mental health resources to at-risk youth from communities affected by violence, poverty and conflict. We meet their visionary team to learn about their work and contribute to furthering it.

The most detrimental environmental impact of a trip is the jet-fuel burned and the best counter-measure we have is to offset the CO2 through investment in local and international reforestation programs creating O2 and renewable energy and sequestering carbon.
